...wait a minute and it'll change." The TV weathergoobers have been hollering about a cold front and "possible freeze in the Hill Country Thursday night" for a week now, so we went to bed with the house closed up and the heater on high. The dogs woke us up at 5am wanting out they were so hot. We were sweating so they must have been miserable. It was raining so we figured the "cold front" was here and the goobers were wrong (again!). We let the dogs out, turned of the heater, took all the covers off the bed 'cept one and opened a window. Woke up at 8 freezing our buns off! It's finally here and guess what temp is outside? After all that hurrah (and a couple hours to "warm up") it's only 49 degrees. Weathergoobers ... pshaw!
"Look on the bright side, Wing," I tells myself. "It may clear up enough to get those glads, irises and daffs in the bed we prepared yesterday!" YEAH!!
"If you don't like the weather in Texas...
when we woke up this morning it was 70 degrees. it is now 47 and raining.
wow farmgirl, that's too funny. Can't imagine it.
That's about the way it really is down here, Pebble! LOL! That must have been the same front, Farmgirl. One minute it's warm, the next it's cold and rainy. Atleast we don't get bored with the weather! 'Least not 'til July-September ~ 110° and not a cloud in sight. ;-)
Wingnut, it's about 40º in my back yard, but the wind is howling through about 25-35 mph, so it feels like 20º. I suspect it will indeed freeze in my slice of hill country tonight. It's always difficult to know what they mean when
they say hill country, as it covers a huge territory. But usually your extremes of cold would be lower than mine, I think, so who can guess? And the weekend promises we will be pleasantly warm and sunny. Just about right to finish pruning the peach trees.
Oh, no! I forgot to prune my one little peach tree! i'd better get at it tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me, Aimee. Yeah, I think what they mean by "Hill Country" is just the "country" instead of the "city," but, yep, who can guess?
Actually Aimee, it's 49 here right now. I live in a little "holler" with hills all around me and two creeks not far ~ one about 200 feet away. That keeps the immediate area around my house warmer than my Sis's a mile away on the hill and cooler in the summer. I love it! Oh, but that wind! Cuts you to the bone! I didn't go out in it today like I had planned. Stayed inside and cleaned house instead. A clean house is a nice house, isn't it? When you're done and you can look around at it it makes sitting there, watching the tube and relaxing so much more rewarding!
Wing, a clean house inspires me to start baking or working on some messy project, which means it is only clean for a short time. I fantasize that I will get it all nice and pretty and enjoy sitting with a cup of something, but I have had to admit I am not much good as a sitter. It lasts about 10 seconds, and then I think of something I must do. All those rocking chairs are for atmosphere, not for my butt.
Well here in Nebraska it is supposed to be 60 tomorrow and Sunday and below 0 by Thursday. That's change!!!
Aimee, LOL! I'm a sitter after I get something done. I like to sit back and look at it! LOL! Also, it's so easy to clean this camper trailer. That's about the only thing good about it ~ it's too small to do many projects. I'll be so glad when we get our house done! Then I can spread my leatherworking, sewing, beadwork and everything else out and get creative again! Right now, I keep the Jones's at bay with crocheting and knitting ~ doesn't take too much room to do that.
Well, Nebraska, I'd tend you agree with ya'! LOL!
Oh, Sis, do you have a diesel, too? We gotta' plug ours in every night or they're crotchety in the morning.
A Ford woman! Allright! ;-)
NJ, that is a steep drop!
