Where DID we put the rowboat? Boy, is the rain coming down here in Middle Tennessee. Good news - it's warm (upper 50s), but schools are closing due to flooding. And it doesn't appear to be letting up anytime soon.
Better go find my hipwaders while I'm at it :) Anybody else getting hit by this weather system?
A real toad-strangler!
We had rain lst nght but not heavy. It went north of us.
Yep, we got rain here last night too. It was very foggy this morning and has been gloomy all day. I just watched the news and they are saying more rain is coming. Yep, for you too JIM!
Thanks, Traci
Oh, Terri! I hope your house isn't in a low spot! Just stay home today! I REALLY don't mean to come off a lecturing you, but I HAVE to say that in the flood here last Nov., 7 people died ~ all from either wrecks or driving into flooded low water crossings. One was in only 1 foot of water, but it was moving SO fast that it "piled up" on the upstream side of his wheels and swept his car off the road, then him under it when he tried to walk out. Just stay home, okay? Or atleast drive slow in the slow lane and avoid ANY running water like the plague, please?!
Enough of the icky stuff. I'll bet your plants are going "Aaahhhhhhh!" *grin* I still love rain! It washes everything all clean! Can't wait 'til we get more! I'll sit right here in my house that's now moved to high ground and watch it. *grin*
Thanks for worrying about me Wingnut; I can understand why you'd have concerns about rain, after looking at your pictures - wowsers!
Anyway, I'm a stay-at-home mom, and I'm feeling "lazier than usual" today. The cats are going stir-crazy, so watching "cat rasslin" is high on my list of to-do's today, hehehe.
If the rain lets up this afternoon, DD and I will probably try to get to the library. We haven't been since before Christmas, and we need to get back in the swing of things (of course she checks out books from school, too.)
I'm going to try to get caught up on laundry and inside chores today, so I can enjoy the nice weather we're supposed to get once this front clears out.
We're on relatively high ground (considering our county is known as the "dimple" of Tennessee, because we sit in the one flat spot for miles, surrounded by hills/mountains all around.) But our home has seen much worse rain than this, so I'm sure we'll be fine. (((thanks!)))
We're in the rain zone, too, vols. We've had around 6 inches in the past 12 hours, according to the NWS. It's coming down in sheets, mercilessly!! It's fun to watch... up on this hill it almost feels like we're on an island. All the pastures around us are giant lakes. A very dreary day!
I think later I'm going to take my truck around and take some pictures... maybe. That would require some energy, which lessens the chance that I'll actually do it. :)
Cat rasslin! Yee-haw! I love it! Yeah, Dave, stay home and play Swiss Family Robinson! LOL! But if you do go out a wanderin', just be careful. We always wander after storms, too ~ everything looks so different then.
We got hit here too, just stopped about an hour ago. The schools let out at 12 because the roads are flooded. Our front yard looks like a lake too. We had a metal wash tub setting outside and it rained it full!!
