How do you plant convulvus (mounding morning glory)?

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I have a pack of seed that I asked for but I don't know when it should be planted, how deep, or what fertilizer is best. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi, Woodspirit! I'm not familiar with Mounding Morninglory/Convulvus ?? If you don't get any immediate replies here (unlikely, but you never know!) I know that Jody put some Convulvus species in the Plants database.....you might check to see if there's germination information in the descriptions; if not you can e-mail her to see if she can share some seed starting information.

Good luck with them - they sound interesting!

karma, when do you plant them? After all danger of frost is past? full sun? what fertilizer?
I looked in the plant forum but didn't see it. :0(

Hi woodspirit1

yes...plant after danger of frost in ordinary garden soil in a sunny area. The seeds should be covered w/ 1/2" to 1" of soil. Will germinate in 7-14 days climate/weather depending. Thin to space about 1' apart once they are about 1" tall.

They can also be started indoors about 6 weeks before planting outdoors...this is how I start them. Can grow them in beds or containers, I do both.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask or e-mail me.

Happy Gardening!
Jody
