Florida panhandle swap meet....

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

I'll check on that Dee. Got to go down in the next few days anyway. Glory, That date isn't set in stone yet I don't guess, but so far most folks seem to be agreeable to it. The lake is in the middle of town and the town is small. The lake is one block off the main road going through town.

Does anyone look at the saros weather predictions? Prediction for that time frame is not great, but who knows, might just miss that spot or that day. I'll check on possible indoor/covered location in case of bad weather.

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

sounds good to me my anniversary is the 17 so I can tell my wife were going some place special...... LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Irish, you are cracking me up! ...ah Saint Paddy's day...green beer......

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Gloria, Going into De Funiak is about going into Wiggins, blink twice and you went right through it. The exit is right off of I-10 so it won't be too hard to find. I will get specific driving directions for anyone that wants them. Just let me know. Look at it this way everyone, don't you think it will be warmer than it is now. Come on we are talking Florida here. (yea and you wouldn't think it cold get colder than a witches...). Dee

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

dee, now how do you know about wiggins, lol...
roz, thank you so kindly for allowing my front legs to rest in front of me instead of flapping in the breeze.
just so ya know, we cant smoke in her truck, but shell give us smoke breaks, lol

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Like my DH does when we travel. That is nice.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

MsJen,

I know about Wiggins cause that is where I am from. Matter of fact my Mother and my aunts and uncles still live there and some of my cousins too. Also, cause some of my trips take me to Gulfport (Air National Guard Base) cause I work for the Guard and my hubby is in the guard here. I also stop in at Kessler BX when I am over there. They usually have nice plants. Dee

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

small world. i work with a woman from wiggins, she says there no place like it and shell never live anywhere else.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

I went to the lake in DeFuniak Spgs today on my lunch break.I am working in Crestview this week so it was close.
It's a beautiful lake complete with shade, ducks to feed and walking trails all the way around it.It's easy to find since it's literally in the center of town.A couple of blocks south of hwy 90.Those are the good points.
No off street parking.1 picnic table. Not much in the way of covered areas in case of rain. Those are the bad points.
There is a Methodist church, across the street, with a small parking lot.We might be able to get permission to use that.
Now....there is a small flea market just east of town on hwy 90.It looks like you might actually get some real fleas there.Covered table area. One of us could rent table space and we could trade in the parking lot.A bit closer to Earl's too.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

JT, sounds like a plan to me. want me to send you some money for a reservation? if that's what everyone wants to do.

Arlene,If we decide to go with the flea markrt I'll take care of it.It is a dump.Lets see what the others think.
Lot's of nice "junk" there. My kind of place.

JT,
I'm game....Is this the kind of place you need a wet cloth to wash your hands after you leave?
Let me know too if you need any money for a reservation.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Me too, I can send some money too.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Me too, I can even meet you if you want and we can look around and discuss all the options. I hope ya'll don't mind but I invited a couple of people that I have traded with on a different web site. I haven't seen them here. They are really nice though. One from south FL, one from south AL and one from Pensacola. Dee

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Dee, i thought you lived in south alabama...lol.. anyone we know?

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Arlene,

Well, I have a truck like they all do. Come to think of it there are alot of them around here. Did I forget where I lived??

The one in AL, his name is Nelson - from Gardenweb
The one in S. FL - her name is Regina Roper - Gardenweb
The one in Pensacola - her name is Sara Williamson - gardenweb.

I've heard from Nelson, he said yes and heard from Regina, she said she wanted to. Haven't heard from Sara though.
Dee

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Ah!!!! Regina...... I know her, she isn't from south florida, she is less than 20 miles from me!! She has cool tropicals and water plants, have been at 2 trades with her.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Dee,maybe we could meet there in early February and pick a spot.As far as table rental goes,it will be very inexpensive so I will rent about three or four.We can pick tables at the edge of the market so we can spead out onto the grass if needed.
Yes Gloria, bring a wet cloth and some antibiotics.
Seriously,Ann and I have been there before. It has lots of local crafts, art glass(our weakness),old farm junk etc.
When we were last there it did not have much of the new, import junk now so common at flea markets.I think we will have fun.
DeFuniak has a few tourist attractions including tours of the Chataqua Winery, with tasting, for the winos among us.
There is a Best Western and a Super 8 motel at the interstate exit.Beaches 30 miles south.Better beaches and accomodations at Destin 30 miles south and 20? east.
Many antique malls from Dothan Al south to the coast.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

JT, love those antiques too, i have a bunch of semi-antique dish sets and could probably feed 300 people on real plates.flea market sounds good.

JT,
If we have a card table should we bring it? I will be in a pickup so I'll have lots of room in the back end.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Gloria, back end of the pickup should be plenty. We don't really have an idea yet of how many are coming.I am going to start a new thread with that question.
