Yesterday evening our school had a new year's party,on which i sang an english song.now for you:
come and see my family under the old apple tree!this is my father, how do you do?sit down and have a cup of tea with me...
The chinese lunar new year is more than one month's time from now.this is the biggest festival of year.by then i will tell you more.by the way,all persons who are born in the year of 2002 are all HORSES according to chinese animal
year.interesting,isn't it?
Well Jianhua, I shall give birth to a horse some time in the next month. I am sure glad it is only a 'horse' in Chinese custom and not for real! LOL So, what were the years 93, 95, 97 and 99? I am curious to know what else I gave birth to. LOL We often joke they are aliens. :)
93 chick 95 pig 97 bull,cow 99 rabbit

Happy New Year Everyone!
So I've got a rabbit and a horse on the way?!?!? Oh no! What a pair?
Thank you Jianhua! I guess chickens, pigs and rabbits aren't so bad, but a bull? LOL Guess that makes the horse look a little better. :) Really, thank you for the information. I love learning about other cultures. My kids are laughing about the animal of their years. Oddly enough we kid the 97 born one, about being a pig. LOL
Michele
happy new year Jianua! Be sure to let us know abut chinese New year. It is great that we have you among us to teach us a little bit about your culture.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL AT D.G. WHOM I CONSIDER MY EXTENDED FAMILY
Seed:
Pig stands for honesty-loyal to his friends and parents.
When you bring the horse into the world, you can organize a basketball team,i suppose.
Pebble,et al:
The same to you!
See you next year!!
I was born in the year of the Rat LOL.
Happy New Year Jian and to all DG'ers across the globe!
Badseed, one of my daughters was born in the year of the pig, and they are truly the most delightful people. They are highly adaptable, sociable, easy going, laid back in general. We always kid her about being a pig but, being a pig, it doesn't bother her a bit. I also have a dog, a dragon, a monkey, and I had a firehorse, which is said to be lucky for the family, but she was the daughter I lost in her 13th year. I can't recall what the youngest or the third is, born in April of 1958 and August of 1968. I am a hare by some charts. I had a great book on Chinese astrology, but loaned it to someone less honest than me and it never came home. I think it was written by Charlene White. Sure would love to find another one.
lo and behold!here it has become an animal world.):
Aimee:58--dog;68--monkey.
Baa:Rat is listed the first of the chinese animal years.
1.rat 2.bull/cow 3.tiger 4.habbit(hare) 5.dragon 6.snake
7.horse 8.goat(sheep) 9.monkey 10.cock/hen 11.dog 12.pig
Happy New Year everyone!!
happy new year
Happy 2002 Year!
Thanks, Jianhua, so that means I have 2 dogs and 2 monkeys. I have a plate with all of the animals around the rim, but it long ago became too old for the years to be current. (It has little calendars, and that helps because our calendar year isn't the same as the Chinese year used in the charts.)So I have to calculate from the last year shown, which I think was in the late 70s. Of course, I have the plate packed away somewhere. Maybe I need to bring it out again?
Happy New Year
a song for you:
Happy new year!Happy new year!Happy new year to you all.we are singing .We are dancing.Happy new year to you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(one of my school kids sang it for me by telephone today).
happy new year dear friend, wish I'd been there to hear your song!!
just curious, which animal was the year 2001??
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Wish your garden flowers keep smiling to you
in the year of 2002 A.D.
tiG:2001-serpent
Jianhua, I was born in 88, am I dragon, or snake? I have just hear that I am dragon....
Evert:
88 are lucky ciphers--stand for "great wealth".
Yeah, ya're a male dragon--flying high in the sky.):
