Scryingcrow, if anyone would know about brugs, KHT is the one! You should see her 9' potted brugs! Gorgeous! She's one of the ladies that have helped mine to become the beautiful plants that they've become.

I have 6 Brugs started from cuttings. They were doing great in water, but now that they are in soil they don't look quite so good. I have them in small pots in a southern window. Planted them in Miricle Grow Potting soil about a week ago.
Any Advice.
Kathy

hello fellow brug-aholics,karma-h-t,is the trick with brugs, while they don't like direct sun light it's actually the roots that don't like the heat? I found my brugs are doing the best in my south window BUT my window sills being quite wide shelter the base/roots from the direct light of the sun and lets leaves get a direct hit (kinda like clemetis)do you agree?when I find a spot any of my houseplants enjoy(all 55!)I hate moving them and seeing as I am a neophite with brugs I should find these things out(thanx!)

OK they are out of the southern window. But won't I do more harm than good if I take them out of the soil they are in? They have been in these pots for about 10 days. Actually today they look much better, about as good as they did in the water.
They had no leaves when I started them in water. Do you mean I should also remove the new leaves they have grown since then?
I looked at your pictures ............wow! If I wasn't hooked before I am now. I also checked out the site you had listed along with your posted picture. Very helpful.
I read that Brugs like their roots "crowded", but the web site suggested putting them in a 1 gallon pot. What is your experience with this. They are just in small 3"-4" pots now.
(I have 5 "Dr. Seuss" and 3 "Insignus Pinks" started)
I have a feeling I have a lot to learn, I hope I can keep a couple of these alive and doing half as well as yours.

karma-h-t,green house lights? are you talking about fluorescent grow lights or those incandescent grow lights? I was thinking of putting those bulbs in my regular floor lamp in the living room,oh! I can't wait for these little babies to grow!I started them on the miracle grow how much and how often do you use it?I water mine about every week or a little less than every week depending on how their soil looks.thanx again for all your help!

Karma, have you ever grown your babies from seeds? I received some in a trade, but have no clue as to how to start them along the way!

Kingston, ON

Here is a Brugmansia site for you to see. Lots of advice and PICTURES galore.

I got some seeds from there and have just planted them. Hopefully, I'll have some plants for trading later on. I'm afraid they are quite addictive. But, then most plants are for me!!

Olympia, WA

i got some seeds from trades and tried germinating them
i planted 3 kinds in the same environment, but only one type germinated. the ones that did though are doing beautifully it also took a looooooong time. oh patience!

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!After reading what everyone is saying about these beautiful plants and seeing the pictures I'm just dying to have one! Is there anyone who would send me some cuttings (of an easy one to grow) for postage or I have tons of seeds and a few plants I could use to do a trade??? I'm hopelessly addicted to plants. I guess I inherited it from my Mom. My kids think I can grow anything but not true.

I can send you some too. I have some already rooted and ready to go.

good morning fellow brugmansiacs has anyone combined 3 different colours of brugs by braiding them together??or can this be done??(like how ficus trees are trained)

Having only grown one kind of brugmansia, I am no expert, but I have found my cuttings root much faster and cleaner in my south window. My north window cuttings just barely do root, but the south window ones root in less than a week.
The sick brug with falling and deformed leaves sounds like spider mites to me. I usually get them from irregular watering (mostly letting them get too dry). I spray with cayenne pepper spray (especially under the leaves and at the Y's. I do this for awhile until they get better.

Hello everyone, I've noticed that you all are talking about keeping them in pots, can you not plant these in the yard? I have been thinking about getting some but I guess I better find out where I need to keep them first. Thanks.
