I want to do another strawbale garden this year. I have done strawbale gardening for 6 years. Last year I transplanted healthy cucumber plants into the straw bales and within a week they flopped over and died. Tried three times? What is the problem.

Could be several things, one of them being too much air space in the straw bale depending on how much soil you are giving them to grow? Presumably you are watering, protecting from heavy wind and frost, all that good jazz?
