I received 2 cherry trees which I was planning to plant, but because of some unforseen circumstances I had to leave quickly and they were left outside in the yard. I wasnt able to go back for the trees and last week the temperature during the night was constantly -10Celsius (14Fahrenheit) and during the day it was also freezing. My question is: is there any chance that the trees can be still planted and bearing fruit? Or is a week of constant freeze completely damaged the roots? They are just in a plastic bag on the ground.
Freeze damage
Doubtful. There are a lot of reasons these trees may not have survived, not just the freeze. But miracles do happen, so try planting one. Before you do that, break off a twig and see if there's any green. If it's just dead wood, forget it.
