I want to plant a pair of Coral trees here in Poway California, San Diego County. I want species that bloom for a long time and will be attractive to birds, particularly orioles and Tanagers which seem to like them in this area. Which species would be best? I was considering these 3 Erythrina sykesii (Australian), Erythrina coralloides (Naked), Erythina Falcata (Brazilian). But doing some research in my area it seems the Naked is common, but the other two are not that common in local nurseries. Looking around at what Nurseries have its mostly Cockspur Coral Tree (Erythrina crista-galli), and Naked Coral tree (Erythrina coralloides).
It seems if I planted one of each I would have one of the two flowering most if not all months of the year. Does this seem like a good pair of trees to attract orioles, tanagers etc?
