A beetle?
Yes. I'm working on it.
I believe what you have is a ship-timber beetle in the family Lymexylidae (historically often spelled Lymexylonidae) - see https://panamabiota.org/stri/taxa/index.php?taxauthid=1&taxon=LYMEXYLIDAE&clid=44 for an image. Your specimen is unusual in that it has fully formed elytra (wing covers). Most beetles in this family have greatly reduced elytra, exposing their wings and much of their abdomen - see http://www.realmonstrosities.com/2013/08/ship-timber-beetle.html
Wonderful thank you. Seem to be a rather limited number of species.
