Honeysuckle not looking so good

Can't tell if it's not enough water or over watering or nutrient deficiency or a disease :(

Most leaves are yellow-brown and falling off the branches. Last year this time around we had green leaves and lots of flowers.

Watering about once a week through the summer, less frequent now. Leaves started to change color about 2 months ago, now pretty much 70% of the leaves are yellow/ish-brown

It can be tricky to diagnose the exact issue with your plant without seeing it firsthand, but based on your description, a few possibilities come to mind:

Watering: Yellowing leaves can often indicate inconsistent watering—either too much or too little. Since you're watering weekly, make sure the soil is thoroughly moist but not soggy. Check the drainage to prevent waterlogging, as poor drainage can mimic overwatering symptoms.

Nutrient Deficiency: If the soil isn’t replenished with nutrients regularly, this could lead to yellowing leaves. Consider adding a balanced fertilizer, particularly one with nitrogen, as it’s essential for healthy, green foliage.

Environmental Factors: Changes in weather or sunlight can stress plants. San Diego’s zone 10b/11a climate is generally favorable, but cooler weather or a shift in sunlight patterns could contribute to leaf loss.

Disease or Pests: Inspect the leaves and branches for signs of fungal infections, spots, or pests like aphids or mites.

Taking small steps, like ensuring proper hydration and checking for diseases, should help your plant recover. Speaking of recovery, if you're someone who works in the garden or stands for long hours, investing in a leg massager for muscle recovery could be a fantastic way to ease tension and keep you energized for plant care.

Hopefully, this helps your plant thrive again! 😊

Are you sure this is a honeysuckle? Doesn't look it to me.
