My girlfriend gave me this ground cover several years ago. She warned me "be careful it will take over" and it sure has. I don't mind it in certain places but it's invading everywhere. It's not toxic as the root system is very shallow so I'm able to scrape it off but must do it often. Any ideas on how to get rid of it permanently in the places I don't want it to grow would be helpful. Thank you.

Scraping it away is probably your best bet. Toxic herbicides do more harm than good.
We've all had this problem. There's no way around it, you have to dig every bit of it up. It'll take a while, but you'll finally get rid of it.
