We are planting a Fall Fiesta Sugar Maple in our front yard but the city has an approved tree list (eye roll) to make the city more diverse. They also have mostly heavy flowering, nut or fruit producing trees to feed the bees, butterflies and birds.
I wanted to avoid attracting bees in my yard because we had a heck of a time with them nesting under our front porch and were overrun with them in our yard. I could not even enjoy gardening because there were so many. (my next door neighbor and I were the only ones doing any amount of flower gardening to feed them and butterflies.)
We didn't want anyone tracking the mess from berries into the house or car either.
Any recommendations?
