CLOSED: Insect on cucumber
It looks like a nymph of a true bug (Hemiptera) - can you try to get a photo from directly over it? The angle from which your image was taken makes it difficult to see diagnostic features.
Thanks, Flap. The id was a request from a friend. I'll see if he can find it again. Thought maybe it was a nymph that you would recognize.
It could be a nymph of a brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) - https://cals.cornell.edu/new-york-state-integrated-pest-management/outreach-education/whats-bugging-you/brown-marmorated-stink-bug
I thought so too considering it is the season (following Japanese beetles which come along with but after the onslaught of Mexican bean beetles). It looked a bit more elongated.
Closing this for lack of better photos. Thank you again, Flap.
