I'm looking for recommendations for a quick growing privacy tree for our yard in Maryland. The area is full-sun, well-drained.
We'd like something that grows fairly quickly to provide a screen for our pool, but not something that will end up too tall. Ideal would be topping out at ~40-50 feet.
As it is near the pool, something that won't make a mess in the pool - either from lots of leaves or berries.
Is Thuja occidentalis a good candidate? Others?
Privacy Tree/Hedge for Maryland?
Yes, Thuja occidentalis, commonly known as the American Arborvitae, is a suitable candidate for your requirements. It is a quick-growing evergreen tree that provides excellent privacy screening. It can reach a height of 40-50 feet, which aligns with your preference. It has dense foliage that acts as a natural screen.
