It is indeed a male spider.At first glance, I thought that it might be a wandering spider in the family Ctenidae, but its eye pattern was not consistent with that. A better guess might be a false wolf spider (family Zoropsidae). See https://inaturalist-open-data.s3.amazonaws.com/photos/153749197/large.jpg for an example of their eye pattern, and compare with your specimen.
