We have found a rather aggressive colony of wasps under our deck up against the house. They are nesting in the ground and are particularly active at the moment. I'm surprised we haven't noticed them before today. I've tried get a picture and unfortunately the one I got is not too sharp but you can clearly see the face. I've been trying to research what kind it is and have ruled out the German Wasp and to me the face looks like the Common Wasp but I can't find much info on them and whether or not they are in our area. All I've been able to determine is it is some type of Yellowjacket.
CLOSED: Wasp ID please
These do appear to be one of the ground-nesting so-called yellowjackets (Vespula sp.) commonly found in Ontario, but I hesitate to attempt a specific identification from this image.
Thank you Flapdoodle. Any and all info appreciated.
