Hi, this is my 3rd yr. growing Marge elderberry. So my problem is something is feasting on the tiny berries soon after flower. I have approx 40 planted in 2 rows of 20. Almost all the berries are missing. I do have alot of flowers right now. Im wondering if i should cover them with something? I spotted a few small broken branches at the berry location. I have a few more about 20yds away that have all the berries, nothing eating them. Im just wondering is it birds? or insect of some kind? Im in SE Pa.
Marge Elderberry Problems!
Yes, most likely birds. They are nesting and stuffing their babies faces with whatever's handy. Covering them is probably the best solution.
