I i have a kikuyu grassed area of approx 300sqm which has been in place for 10 years - and has generally been pretty good for the dogs and kids.
every now and again, there have been areas where it looks like the lawn is "throwing up" dead bits of lawn - but its been isolated - so i haven't really worried about it.
This year though, its been happening for months on end - as as soon as i mow it up - more comes back...
is there name for this ? i dont even know what to google for in order to work out if its a good/bad/indifferent thing.... (and what to do about it - if anything)_
what is it called when lawn keeps tossing up dead bits of lawn ?
That might be what they call thatch.
Audrey, I believe thatch is the buildup of dead grass material on top of the soil at base of the grass.
