Who might this earth mover be? The mound is 5 inches accross and the hole is 3/4 of an inch in diameter. I know some bees nest in the ground but this seem much too big.

Is the water table in this area within a couple of meters of the surface? If so, this may have been constructed by a crayfish.
Thank you. This at 2100m on a mountain so I'm guessing the water table isn;t very close but don't know.
I've done some more checking, and it seems that the only crayfish species reported from Colombia is one whose habitat is pretty much limited to the banks of streams and ponds at lower elevations. So, my best guess is that it could be a large wasp in the family Sphecidae. Is it at all possible for you to keep this site under observation?
