I saw this guy/gal this morning in north central Arkansas under an elm tree in our goat pasture. It's about a centimeter long. Any ideas? Harmful?
CLOSED: Type of ant?
This is a checkered beetle (family Cleridae). They are general predators on other small arthropods.
