I had a couple of butterflies in the garden today and was wondering if my identification is correct. I think the brown one may be a eyed-brown and the orange one a checkerspot perhaps. A correct identification would be most appreciated.

I think that the most likely prospects for your butterflies are a Harris' checkerspot (Chlosyne harrisii) - https://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Chlosyne-harrisii
and a northern pearly eye (Lethe anthedon) - https://butterfliesofamerica.com/lethe_a_anthedon.htm
Thank you Flapdoodle, very much appreciated.
