This very large beetle was on my hanging basket plant this morning. I'm thinking June Bug but have no idea as I can't seem to find anything similar online. It was about thumb size, quite large.

It does belong to the group of scarab beetles in the subfamily Melolonthinae known commonly as May beetles or June bugs. Yours likely is in the genus Phyllophaga; you can see some different examples at https://pbase.com/tmurray74/scarab_beetles_subfamily_melolonthinae_may_beetles__june_bugs
Thank you so much! It’s quite an imposing creature when you first see it. I’m glad I was able to photograph it before it left.
