Spotted this spider when sorting thru some yard waste. He decided to run around the rim of my yard cart. He or she did not jump or hop. One prominent white dot on back. Some other pale white marks that didn’t photograph well. Size was less than an inch.

Sorry the pictures are so miserable. They didn’t make the journey from IPhone to DaveS without losing just about everything that would make identification possible.
It's a female jumping spider in the genus Phidippus; it appears to be P. audax, a very widespread species known as the bold/daring jumper. This species shows a fair amount of variability in its color pattern.
