what was the post to begin with?

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Louisa, I think it's that pretty photo you posted. We can't stand you looking so good.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

lol Aimee - I don't think many have seen it. It took me ages to pluck up the courage to do it and then under the disguise, so to speak!! Like I said, the camera was kind to me that day and the lighting was pretty bad...lol!! Even my silvery gray hair didn't show up!!!!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

You stop that right this minute! You looked lovely, I saw that lovely hair, and I want the dress. If that's a bad photo, don't ever subject us to the good ones. I would trade my last box of hair dye for that nice jaw line.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

ok, so I tried to search for her photo to no avail..........where is it? I wanna see too.........whaaaaa.............I'll have some cheese with that whine later..........LOL.........just kidding

RedRose... what is wrong with ur printer, u never mentioned what the problem was? probably u just ran out of ink??? if that is the case, i try to 'trick' my printer when it tells me the cartridge is out of ink.

this might also be a tip for some who uses ink cartridge on their printer.

when i change the cartridge the first time around, after a while it will tell me there is no ink. what i do>>>> is go to the process of reloading the same cartridge. i do reload the same ink cartridge 3 times. it works, like i have loaded a 'new' cartridge in. on the third notice of printer being out of ink... is when i change to a brand new cartridge. to sum it all up, i used one cartridge 3 times. reusing the same cartridge did not change the quality of my print. hope this help.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

MaVie, I just saw this, and I so hope my printer is just like yours. I have only in the last few days hooked up a new printer, and printed maybe 20 sheets. The light started blinking as if the cartridge was out of ink. I knew it shouldn't be, so I went through all of the things in the instructions, then went online to troubleshoot it there. I uninstalled and reinstalled as instructed, all of the printer software. Same light blinking. I was hoping to get a response to an email to the company, but that hasn't happened in a week, so I am tired of waiting. This posting of yours might save me some much needed money right now, and I am so grateful to you for your frequent helpful tips to us. REDROSE, I hope it helps you, too. It's so frustrating to not be able to use your stuff!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

MaVie, I'm going to try that. I use a Lexmark printer and wish I'd checked before I bought it and known that there are no cheap refills for it. Drives me mad, I've been out of ink forever, and I just can't bear the thought of a $30 refill!!!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

tiG, I agree! Especially when it doesn't last very long at all. I am fortunate in that my printer has separate cartridges, because I think I only have to replace the color one often, but it still won't print so I can't use it for just black and white. I wish I knew all these little tricks of the trade, but if I follow MaVie around long enough, she will at least partially open my eyes. The woman is full of things like this. (((MaVie)))

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Aimee... this info i gave, i find by accident. although we sell refill inks for Lexmarks & Compaq printer, we keep on testing & buying printers we hope to learn on how they function.

my printer & cartridge is given to me free by people i live with, i try not to take advantage of the situation.

i 'discovered' the above trick when i did not have the nerve to ask for another cartridge. so far, with the black & colored cartridge, i have learned that i can only reuse the same cartridge twice... so one cartridge is used 3 times around. i am using an Epson Stylus 580 colored printer. i am not saying it will work on all other printers, but it sure is worth a try. u got nothing to lose in the process. it would also help to clean the nozzle of the printer while in the process of doing the trick job. am keeping my fingers cross that this 'trick' will help everyone.

isn't it a darn shame we have to forever buy those expensive cartridges? yet, not really know if the cartridge was really empty or not. at least i am glad to find that i am able to outwit the machine this time around. as i always say to the students i used to tutor, "anything man made, i can learn to manipulate, but anything God created, i won't touch with a ten foot pole ;)!" well i guess this time around, i am able to prove my point. LOL! good luck!!!

Rose, sorry we 'highjacked' your thread. Seems a lot of us are in the 'printer down' mode. Wish I could help!!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

The inks is fine but the printer is old and broken need to buy new one.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Wow MaVie this is wonderful stuff - thanks so much!!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

tiG ... if anything happens to ur Lexmarks printer, basing from the customers we deal with, Lexmarks replaces the printer at no cost to u. what i am saying is... if the printer breaks down, they replace it with a new one, no question ask. the only thing i know about the HP printer cartridge is... it is so difficult & too much hassle to refill. not worth the effort of refilling. one sad thing is the cartridges are waaaaaayyyyyy too expensive!

sorry RedRose. wish i knew how to help u. sometimes, i try to clean the printer moving parts... sometimes, those moving parts get jammed!

u're very welcome Louisa. no one ever knew who knew what. i sort of feel my way around, & see how i can share little bit of experience i come across with in the hope that i can alleviate or help solve some minor problem. it is always a great pleasure to help.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

tiG, that is ok doesn't bother me at all :)

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Aimee... i do not really know what printer u have or what kind of problem u are having. but it sounds like ur ink refill might be clog??? take a damp paper towel, wipe off the bottom part of ur cartridge. place it back on the cartridge slot. run the clean nozzle, and see how that works. hope that solve that problem. otherwise u got to let me know how else i can help. am sure there are some quick solution.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Aimee
Did you just buy this printer? If so you can take the cartriges to the store where you bought them and tell them it's dried out and they should replace it for you.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Susan, I wish! My DD gave it to me before the cancer diagnosis, a birthday present. I didn't open it until just a few weeks ago, since I couldn't even get upstairs to use the computer and then had chemo brain and was afraid I couldn't handle the mental part. She bought it in San Antonio, but I'm sure she hasn't kept the receipt this long even if they would exchange it. I have called HP, the number on the guide, but can't get through to anyone there.

MaVie, I still haven't used your last tip, but will try both. I thought it seemed like something was stopped up or clogged but had no idea how to remedy it. Stand by, I will work with it. Many thanks.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Redrose, do you have a "RiteAid" drug store near you? The reason why I ask : My printer died on me also. I told my computer junkie friend and he called me Sunday to tell me Rite Aid drug store had an Apollo printer on sale! The Apollo printer uses HewLett-Packard tech. on their printers. This printer sold for 60 bucks on sale..THEN..you mail in a rebate and get back 20 more bucks!!! The printer only cost me 19.99!!! AND they had the ink cartridge in it (both color and black) What a bargain!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Yes!Lisa... Here has RiteAid at the Main Street. =) wow that bargain and hope it still have it and hope u get one before it ran out.

I am getting ready for the church tonight!

shuttlebunny:
I just kinda picked some here and there. I know I did the kitten ones, the first two morning glories, a couple of the butterfly ones, garden mouse, Daves garden, Herbs 1, and a few more, but I can't remember which ones and I have the package taped up ready to mail in the morning or I'd look.

I'm sure REDROSE will love any of the ones you print for her.

Joan
