Our magnolia tree has an odd spherical growth which it has never had before. There is only the one. I think it may be a fruit but it does not fit the descriptions I have seen on here so I am not sure! Any information / advice / comments welcome. We are in the UK - but that may have no bearing on the growth!

Growth on Magnolia
Look at images of fruit of a magnolia tree. Most images are of the southern magnolia (grandiflora) but some are of the star and saucer magnolias - those look like your fruit in a way.
