Fallopia Species, Chinese Knotweed, Tuber Fleeceflower

Could you please let me know how to get rid of it? It has taken over my yard! Thank you!

Cut it to the ground NOW. Either throw it in the trash, burn, or compost as the thing you need to worry about next are seeds and seedlings. Then for the next several years, pull out or spray every sprig of it you see come up. I hope it is i a small spot to begin with because if it is coming from your neighbors, it may be hard to get rid of. Being that you are in Florida, it will probably be perennial so you may have to spray any sprouts coming up from the roots as well or cover with light blocking material for a year or so. It took me 3 to 5 years to get rid of it completely but once in a while I see a seedling come up.

Good luck.

Thank you for all the information. Unfortunately this thing has taken over my entire back fence which is about 120 feet and it’s also on the ground coming into my yard about 8 feet so it is no small area to treat. I had no idea what these things were so they were kind of looking pretty and green on the fence but then I realized they’re moving onto the yard itself into my grass. I suspect I will have to get in touch with a professional lawn company

It sounds like you may need to seek pro help for a patch that big - especially around any fences.
