Found this guy today and was wondering if anyone had any idea what type of moth it is?

It's in the family Noctuidae, in the group that includes cutworms, army worms, etc. See https://static.inaturalist.org/photos/5457825/medium.jpg?1478493871 for an example (not the same species as yours).
