Looks most like a wolf spider (family Lycosidae). Some grass spiders in the family Agelenidae can be quite similar in appearance, but their legs usually are less robust,and their spinnerets are visible in a dorsal view. As so often the case, a frontal view of the eyes would be unmistakable.

Thank you. Unfortunately it was facing a wall so couldn't get the camera around to see its eyes.
