This beetle freaked us out. It has little tiny babies on it's back? It was flying around us and had a big wingspan.
Located in Kippens, Newfoundland.
CLOSED: Flying bug found in Garage
It's a sexton/burying beetle (family Silphidae) in the genus Nicrophorus, possibly N. sayi. Those are mites on its back; they are hitching a ride on the beetle (phoresy), hoping for a food source.
