Found in roadside ditch in central Nebraska 9/10/2020.
CLOSED: unknown Caterpillar
It's a caterpillar of the spurge hawkmoth, Hyles euphorbiae. a European species introduced to try to control leafy spurge. Their color pattern is extremely variable; see https://webdoc.agsci.colostate.edu/bspm/arthropodsofcolorado/Leafy-Spurge-Hawk-Moth.pdf for some examples.
