I'm still puzzling over this one. As the tarsi are clearly visible, I was able to eliminate quite a few possibilities, but those remaining just didn't seem to fit. Then the thought occurred to me tonight: what if it was an unusually slender tiger beetle? However, if it was a tiger beetle, it should have had very prominent mandibles (jaws). - did you notice if that was the case?
Thank you for investigating Flap. Unfortunately I don't think saw the mandibles but there's good chance it will return to the wall where I have a porch light and I will get another opportunity to see it.
