Hi! I have a pindo palm in my yard that died awhile back. It has now broken in half and must go. My husband thinks I need to hire someone to remove it that will grind the stump out of the ground. Despite its age and size, it is my understanding stump grinding should not be necessary. Am I wrong? Thanks. See pic.
Roots on 20+ yo pindo palm
I don't grow palms but when we've had trees taken down, it takes a few years for the stumps and roots to rot away. We've had stumps ground as well. If you wanted to plant something in the same place very soon, I would have the stump ground out, else just let it up to nature to take care of it.
I would cut the stump to the ground though to make it look tidier.
