Can anyone tell me what kind of grasshoppers these are in zipcode 75082 North Texas? Are they related?

Thank you

Hi mie_flowers,

Good pictures. I have seen identical or similar grasshoppers here in Kansas. I suppose they are related, in the way that all grasshoppers are related. I don't think there is any danger of them mating and crossing to produce hybrid dangerous grasshoppers. You could probably find more specific information from some of the experts at the Insect and Spider Identification Discussion Forum.

When I was younger, I used to catch a grasshopper and use some of my Liquitex Artist's Acrylic Paints to paint it a pretty bright color. And then I would release it and catch another one and paint it a different color. After doing this for quite a bit, you could see my brightly colored grasshoppers on the plants around my garden. The acrylic paints were water proof, so the rain would not wash them off. The grasshoppers did not seem to mind it, but it was probably not a good thing to do, from a cruelty to animals standpoint. I wouldn't do that now.
