Can anyone help me ID this strange growth in our plant bed which consists of chocolate chip ajuga (bugleweed). Zip code 75082, Richardson TX. The top part looks like a brown overgrown radish but looks like it might turn to powder if disturbed? I'm wondering if it's some sort of fungus? It has a fairly sizable neck that can't quite be seen on the lower left.
Thanks for your help!

It might be some kind of puffball mushroom.
Thank you, I think you're right!
