I found this on the milkweed while photographing the monarch caterpillars. I think the victim in this is a leaf hopper but no idea what the large creature is.

It's a robber fly (Diptera: Asilidae). These are ambush predators on other small arthropods, mainly other insects such as the hapless leafhopper here.
