CLOSED: Another tiny beetle for ID

bournemouth, United Kingdom

This tiny black & green beetle was seen on Turbary Common which is heathland in the south of England. It was tiny, less than 1cm long (round?). Hoping Flapdoodle will know again!

It's a nymph of a stink bug/shieldbug(family Pentatomidae); likely this one - Palomena prasina, known as the common green shieldbug - https://www.naturespot.org.uk/species/common-green-shieldbug

Thankyou. It was very cute (if a bug can be cute!!).

I actually found one of my photos which had been identified as a Common Green Shieldbug nymph but from your link this was a final stage instar. This 2nd stage one is much brighter. I didn't realise how different they could be. But then look at butterflies & moths!!

I think that quite a few insects can be 'cute', and yes, there are many examples of an insect's appearance changing greatly during its development - see for example the spotted lanternfly, invasive here in the eastern USA - https://news.psu.edu/story/533793/2018/08/29/impact/penn-state-asks-visitors-help-stop-spread-spotted-lanternfly

Wow!
