Unknown spider in Chandler, AZ

Chandler, AZ

Hi all,

Saw this spider this morning against my screen door in Chandler, AZ. Wanted to see if anyone could ID it for me as I like to be friendly with spiders and don't want to move him unless I have to. I was a zookeeper in the past and was told by an entologist that no matter what people say, Brown Recluses don't live in our area. But every AZ exterminator website says this is a Brown Recluse.

This is an immature huntsman spider (family Sparassidae) - see https://www.insectidentification.org/insect-description.asp?identification=Giant-Crab-Spider for an adult example.
Also known as giant crab spiders, they are quite common in the American southwest and not dangerous to humans.
There are recluse spiders in Arizona, just not the brown recluse - see http://magazine.pctonline.com/article/may-2017/not-recluse.aspx for a distribution map and other information on recluse spiders.

Thank you very much Flapdoodle. It's a shame that so much misinformation about Brown Recluse spiders is spread out on the internet. Thanks again
