I saw this bug in my backyard today. It was about 1 cm long, and had a bright orange-red underside. I poked it with a blade of grass and in response it extended a sort of proboscis or something and wrapped it around the grass, which I thought was interesting.
I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get better photos, but it was too small for my phone’s camera to properly focus on it.
Thanks in advance for the help!!
CLOSED: What is this?
It's a nymph of a predatory stink bug, likely in the genus Podisus.
