My iris have bloomed every year for the last 10 years and this summer they just stopped blooming.
Can any one help?
Iris
I had that problem 1 year and it was because I had over fertilized them with high nitrogen fertilizer for each time I fertilized the surrounding roses, the iris would get fertilized too. I had lush green foliage from all the fertilizer just no flowers.
Are these bearded iris from rhizomes or dutch iris from bulbs?
If rhizomes, have you ever dug them when dormant, divided the rhizomes then replanted them giving them more room in their 10 years? Crowded iris will not bloom too.
Have the surrounding plants grown up around them, shading them too much? They need sun to bloom. They also need some water.
In early spring you can add a fertilizer low in nitrogen but high in phosphorous which will help them form blooms.
If you have done all these things, they should bloom for you.
