Wondering what this bug is and if this a friend or foe in a woodland and garden?
About 2 cm long. Any ideas?

It's a flat bug, family Aradidae - see https://www.inhs.illinois.edu/research/pi/sjtaylor/sjtaylor/aradidae1/ for an example. None are known to be of any economic importance; they are thought to feed primarily on fungi, but the actual feeding habits of most species are unknown.
