As will be obvious very soon, I am a complete rookie. I have a tree that is doing wonderfully on the side of my house. It has grown a bit too tall. My first question is whether I can cut the top off without killing it. And if I do (maybe the top 1/4) can I plant the part I cut off?
I am not sure what kind of tree it is, but I have attached a few pictures. Thanks in advance for the guidance!
Can I plant the top of an overgrown small tree?
Looks like Japanese Yew. You can try cuttings but read some advice from folks who do this for a living. Some conifers are easy to take while others are probably next to impossible.
