Nectarine Flowers have no pollen

Toledo, OH

My 5 yo Nectarine blooms wonderfully every year, but there is no pollen. I live in the 43615 area code and the weather changes every two days from warm (55) to cold (32) and some light rain. There are no bees here to speak of so I have tried to hand pollinate with an artists brush. I cannot get any pollen to transfer to the brush. I use a magnifying glass to inspect the flower parts and the look exactly as they should, but again, no pollen is being produced. I am coming to the realization that a Nectarine tree will not grow well in Ohio. I will try and get some pics of the flowers to post.
I have 2 different apple trees that bloom a little later in the year and I have hand pollinated them and they are delicious

Having no bees is worrisome. Do you know why? You could start bee keeping.

Do you get on a ladder to hand pollinate your apple tree? How many blossoms do you do?

I looked and nectarines do well in Ohio.

Perhaps you got a rare sterile nectarine. I understand that does happen.

In the years I have been here, I have not seen many bees out this early in the year. There are some later but not as many as I would like.
I do cross pollinate my apple trees.
I inspected my open flowers on the Nectarine tree with a magnifying glass and did not see any pollen today. The blooms did look nice when the sun came out.
