I find these holes all around on one side of the house. I tamp them shut, and the next morning, they are there again. What could be making these?

Good question. You can rule out earthworms (no castings) or ants/wasps (no mound of soil removed from hole); you might have to keep watch at night using a red light of some kind to see if you can spot the cause.
Thank you for ruling those out, but I sure would like to know what it is . . . Your answer was helpful though . . . .
I have dung beetles in my yard that make small holes but I haven't noticed them to be perfectly circular. Agree with the other user to take a peek at night to see what it could be.
Thank you Lisa! Apparently you and Flapdoodle concur, so I shall have to spy on these at night! Thank you both for your help!
