1-2cm alien?

Need ID on this alien looking thing. Was hanging on one of the vines. Want to know if it's good or bad for the plants.

It's a larva of a lady beetle (family Coccinellidae). The vast majority of these are beneficial predators on plant-feeding insects such as aphids.
