I have several 15 year old conifers that have started drooping significantly in the past 2 weeks. NE Victoria, very dry, hot and windy 40 degrees. Have never had this much droop in previous years. Lots of thick new growth and seeds (per photos). I have been watering twice per week, significant flooding soak 20mins per bush as I have been anxious about them struggling in the heat & dry this year. I know nothing about plant care, but I am suspecting that I might be over-watering and the new growth is getting too heavy for the branches? Should I trim the extra weight off or will that stress the plant too much in these extreme conditions. They are approx 12 - 15 feet high and too large to tie. Am I on the wrong track completely and potentially not watering them enough? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Close up photo included to show all of the recently new growth.
