Interesting behavior. I saw through a window this guy walking along just outside my door. He was about two feet away from it. When I opened the door he immediately fell over on his side and played dead like a possum would.
Weevil?
It is indeed a weevil, and that behavior is fairly common. Unfortunately, the odds of you finding out exactly which species it is are rather slim.
