I recently started growing Elderberries since I remembered one very large bush in the backyard of the old family home. I loved the jam that was made from it, but since moving away a long time ago and life, I didn't think about growing them until recently. Two years ago I bought two varieties of Elderberry. This year I wound up with two problems: One was elderberry borer and the other was the new invasive species of fruit fly, Drosophila suzukii. I picked the berries and when I started to pluck them off into a bowl is when I saw the white thing worms wiggling around. Needless to say, I dumped the entire bunch for that year. Is there any way to prevent the flies from getting to the berries out there?
