I do realize the world is full of people who cheat and lie their way through life - that is reality, and I wanted to first let everyone know I am aware of this..
BUT!
I hate students who cheat! I despise grading papers to find two students so stupid that they share answers! I hate even more to find one student deliberately copying from another student!
As a graduate teaching assistant, I see this too often. I hate it! I know I shouldn't let it bother me, and just "get over it, this is how the real world is".. but I don't like it one bit.
Please suffer through my rantings. I do realize the world is full of cheaters and liars. I just despise students who think they can pull a fast one on me and get away with it.
I had to turn in two students for copying from each other today, and there was no reason for either of them to do so. Last assignment of the course - it wasn't worth wasting the course for one assignment.....
Thank you for listening, er,,,, reading. :)

I know this is reality, but...
Jennifer, I know this is hard to take, especially when you know they could probably do the work honestly if they would just apply themselves. You're right, some people will go through life looking for an easy way out, conning everyone they meet, but trust that it will not go unpunished. Someday, they will need to have a letter of referral or someone to vouch for their character, and where will they turn? It isn't that they are trying to put one over on you, it's that they think they are smarter than the rest of the world. So they will leave a trail of people who saw through their deceptions, and when they need to ask for testimony to their good character, it will be difficult to find. Or worse still, when they need to use the knowledge they failed to get, they will be shown to be lacking. You might not know about it, but they will catch themselves in the trap of their own making. I believe con artists are born, not made. My Intro to Psychology bears that out.
