I live in Belize, Central America, hot and humid. This red vine has suddenly appeared in our fence. Flower as shown is about 2 inches. Any ideas?

Identify vine
Quick glance the flower makes me think of hibiscus as do the leaves. Hibiscus doesn't vine to my knowledge but bushes can be lanky and grow odd at times. There is another plant that has flowers that look like they would be hibiscus, I think its called turk's cap. Another hibiscus like flower is abutilon aka flowering maple.
I am leaning towards Turkscap, Turk's cap. Malvaviscus arboreus.

Thank you for your suggestions. I also thought it was a type of Hibiscus, but what you see in the picture is it....it doesn't open into a flower. I looked at Turks cap, and I don't think it's that. We've been in this house for 13 years, and this is the first year we've seen it. It has come up amidst a mass of Trumpet vine, Cypress vine and a magnolia vine. We love the profusion of plants that we have. We also have, with no knowledge of where it came from, a Devils Bed plant! Nasty little fellow has a spiny stalk and spines on the upper AND underneath sides of the leaves. Interesting fruit, bright orange! In fact there is much I love, maybe I should start my own blog! Thanks for your help. (and the birdies that drop seeds for us!)

As soon as I saw your photo above, I though Turk's Cap. I think it is for sure Malvaviscus arboreus. Your flower and leaf matches. The flowers of Turk's Cap do not open as you said yours also do not.

LOL, my nasty little fellow is not that tomato thingy! I meant to take pictures of it today, but got carried away with our weekly shop...a 3 mile cycle ride, bringing it all home in hubbys' basket on the back of a three wheeler. It's a chore! You are right about the Turks Cap....the picture you showed is more like mine...the ones I looked at on Google didn't show the stamens. I am going around the perimeter and finding it everywhere...definitely is a vine.

We do indeed have some fabulous plants. Some of them are worthy of my blog, I think!

I have posted on my blog, some pics of the nasty Devils Bed plant. Also a few others that are in bloom at the moment.
